La Vanille Reserve des Mascareignes: Operation in this tropical forest started in 1985 in this part of the island which kept a feeling of “old Mauritius”, whether it be the manner of the people, their traditions or even the unspoilt scenery… Guides will take you on unforgettable walks, and you will stroll through luxuriant greenery where banana trees, palm trees and giant bamboos provide shade the thousands of Nile crocodiles which are in this park, and which you can visit in perfect safety… After leaving our crocodilian friends, you can visit the 500 giant tortoises, wandering around in their two-acre park, and meet Domino, who is 90 years old and wighs 270 kgs. You may wish to take a souvenir photo in the largest Aldabra and Radiata tortoise park in the world.
La Vanille also boasts insectariums of over 20,000 species including butterflies. The “Crocodile Affame” restaurant serves local delicacies, including crocodile meat for the more adventurous...

Souillac - The south is characterized by a nature like the " Mediterranean Bush". Souillac is a small village just off the Rochester Falls, which is worth a visit. Rochester Falls - the water tumbles from the Savanne River from a height of about 10m (33ft) where constant erosion has fashioned the basalt rock into upright columns. Young Indian boys squat at the top waiting for tourists to arrive and perform dare-devil dives into the water below. Gris Gris. On to Riambel, we recommend a rest Gris-Gris for the wild beauty of the look on the reefs beaten by the long foamy waves... Very windy! You can continue towards Riambel coasting the shore as far as Le Morne, through characteristic villages of fishermen...
